This family contains glycophorin binding proteins from P. falciparum the malarial parasite. Glycophorin is a cell surface protein of erythrocytes. The Glycophorin binding protein contains a tandem 38 residue repeat. In Plasmodium falciparum GBP the repeat occurs 11 times.
